USB-485 Isolated USB-RS485 Converter Drivers

This is a Windows driver set for the KK Systems USB to RS485 isolated converter.

It is compiled from FTDI: http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm

You have TWO equivalent ways to install this driver:

1. BEFORE CONNECTING THE USB-485 TO THE COMPUTER FOR THE FIRST TIME

Insert the CD into a CD drive on the PC and run the .exe file in the
"Driver-Manual-Installation" folder. This installs the drivers and the
USB-485 can be connected to the computer afterwards.

- OR -

2. AFTER CONNECTING THE USB-485 TO THE COMPUTER

Windows should automatically detect the new device, and will offer various
options where to look for the drivers. At this point you should point
it to the drive letter where this CD is, and browse to the path
"Driver-Automatic-Installation". Windows will install the appropriate
drivers.

A third method of installing a driver, on an internet-connected computer
running Windows 7 or higher, is to use Microsoft Update, which should
download the latest FTDI driver from Microsoft. This option works but is not
recommended as it may download a driver which has not been field tested
with the KK USB-485.

WHICH COM PORT IS THE USB-485 ON?

Windows allocates the next available COM port. To discover the COM port
number which has been allocated, do
Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager ->
 Ports (COM & LPT)
and the device is the one called "USB Serial Port".

Each KK USB-485 converter contains a unique serial number. The Windows driver
will create the same COM port number regardless of which USB port on the PC
the converter is plugged into. However, another KK USB-485 converter will
create a different COM port, even on the same PC.

IMPORTANT: The drivers for the KK Systems USB-485 *isolated* converter are
the same as for the USB-232 *isolated* converter. The drivers for the
KK Systems USB-232-NI *non isolated* converter are completely different but
can co-exist on the same computer.
